TRAFALGAR SQUARE, Northern Terrace

Inspired by sculptor Mark Coreth's experiences of the Arctic landscape, this is a life-sized ice sculpture of a hunting Polar Bear.
As it melts it will leave a bronze skeleton, a pool of water and a powerful environmental message about the effects of climate change.
By touching the Ice Bear everyone can become sculptors and make a direct connection with this iconic animal and its Arctic kingdom. Mark Coreth hopes this creative act will bring home to each person how humanity has the power to affect the delicate balance of nature.

The exhibition will run until Friday 30th October, although the studio can only be visited during the week by appointment.

This is an opportunity to see new pieces which Mark is working on
following his recent trips to the arctic, and in particular his plans for the 'Ice-Bear' in Trafalgar Square in December. (For more information visit www.icebearproject.org). In addition, there will be a selection of bronzes for sale from past and present work, from small maquettes to large outdoor sculptures, some of which are planned for inclusion in his next Sladmore show in 2010.
